Sustainable ≠ more expensive

The idea is widespread among many people: sustainability is good for the planet, but it's also more expensive. However, TELETASK proves that sustainable and more expensive do not necessarily need to be synonyms.

At TELETASK, we consider sustainability to be of paramount importance. For example, we have already taken several actions to act responsibly, such as introducing packaging without plastic. We also make sure that TELETASK products are as sustainable as possible.

However, many people think that more sustainable is also more expensive. Sometimes it may seem that way, but at TELETASK we prove that it can be done differently.

Same possibilities, much less energy

Included in TELETASK's range of products are the TDS13512 and TDS13510 relay interfaces. The former, TDS13512, is a traditional relay interface used to control, for example, an entrance gate and lighting. When moderately active (4 relays ON), it consumes about 0.1 A or 1.2 W. Little, in other words. But can things get better?

In the long run, many small drops together often amount to more than expected. So we did a little exercise for you, to demonstrate the difference between an economical interface TDS13512 and the "zero-power" technology of the slightly more expensive TDS13510. The second relay interface TDS13510 offers almost the same capabilities, but can switch 8x16A instead of 8x10A of the TDS13512. The more powerful sibling also has another advantage: the TDS13510 consumes a maximum of 35 mA with internal relays of 16 A instead of 10 A and with all eight relays in OFF or ON state. So this does not matter anymore for the TDS13510.

One disadvantage remains: it is about 10% more expensive. But read on, because the story has an interesting twist for you and your customer!

More durable, but not more expensive

The truth is: at the time of purchase, the price for the extremely energy-efficient TDS13510 is about 10% higher than that of the TDS13512. But users are guaranteed to recuperate this initial extra cost.

Imagine that a resident has (only) five to ten TDS13510 relay interfaces in the distribution board, instead of five traditional, cheaper TDS13512 units. Then, after twenty to thirty years, the seemingly small energy savings add up. Good for an annual saving of more than 43 to 86 KWh! Or how one small watt becomes one big watt. In thirty years, it's probably going to be a lot higher. Know that the hardware of a TELETASK home automation system is made to last thirty years. So in two to three decades, the resident will easily regain the additional cost of the interface.

In other words: TDS13510 is better, cheaper and more durable. Moreover, TELETASK has almost twenty years of experience with this 'zero-power' technology.

Opting for sustainability pays off

Those who choose the more sustainable TDS13510 will earn back the extra cost over time, through lower energy bills. The additional cost in the client's mortgage is directly subtracted from the energy bill. In addition, the user lives more sustainably, which is good news for our planet and for future generations. Our advice: definitely include the TDS13510 in your offer, possibly as an option, as a sustainable alternative, and convince with our numerical example.
