Integrated home automation in a luxury villa with poolhouse

A young family in Bocholt, Belgium, recently built a spacious, luxurious home. They fully embraced a serene style and maximum comfort. To make everything easy to control, they chose a TELETASK home automation system.

Rural and luxurious

From the outside, the country villa set amidst greenery looks rather traditional, with reddish-brown bricks, a thatched garage roof and a cobbled driveway. Inside, however, the home is serene and more clean-lined, finished with soft colours and high-end materials – a design by the Belgian interior architect Nency Corstjens.

The client decided to automate all electrical functions in an integrated home automation system. The aim was also to control everything via a mobile phone. Looking for advice, the couple came across BK Concept, a construction company.

Long-term product support

“We always install TELETASK technology for customers who ask for home automation,” says Kurt Paredis of BK Concept. “We’ve been working with TELETASK for years. It may not be the cheapest system, but TELETASK always provides good support. And also very important: they support their products over the long term. So customers with older systems can still be helped. Moreover, it’s a reliable, large company with a solid product strategy and a strong budget for product development. TELETASK products are therefore very high quality – they work perfectly and are very stable. Our customers also love the design appeal of the glass push-button panels.”

Home automation in the pool house

In the new villa, virtually everything that could be, was integrated into the central TELETASK system. One powerful central unit was installed in the main house, and a smaller one in the pool house. Those two central units were linked together. In almost all rooms – except the attic – AURUS panels are fitted, and there are also several AURUS OLED screens and two larger OPUS touch screens.

Fans of the smartphone app

In practice, however, the residents generally use the smartphone app to control all functions. And there are quite a few: the video doorphone at the entrance gate, the wall and underfloor heating, dimmable and non-dimmable lighting, the gas fireplace, air conditioning, curtains, smoke alarm, the burglar alarm system and the motorised gates. BK Concept also installed several light and motion sensors. Thanks to an outdoor light sensor, the outdoor lighting is automatically activated when it gets dark.

Smooth installation

“As the construction project progressed, the client asked to add more and more functions,” explains Kurt Paredis. “Fortunately, installing TELETASK technology goes quite smoothly. For configuring some more complex integrations, we did ask the support team of Belgian distributor Stagobel for help a few times, and in the end, everything worked out well.”

Extra comfort

In any case, the residents are very satisfied with their home automation system. “It’s easy to use, so afterwards we don’t get any more questions,” says Kurt Paredis. “We also provided a number of ‘moods’ (scenes) for them. That way, with a single press of a button, they can activate a whole range of functions for the desired ambience – in the ‘Visitors’ mood, for example, the fireplace is switched on, and the different light circuits are dimmed to specific levels. Such powerful options provide even more comfort.”

We can confidently say that the owners and everyone involved are very satisfied with the decision to choose the combination of BK Concept, interior architect Nency Corstjens and TELETASK home automation.
