As an employer, you can use the TELETASK access control system to register working hours. This may also be relevant in the context of domestic staff, which in Europe falls under a new regulation regarding working time registration.
Mandatory working time registration in Belgium from 2027
From January 1, 2027, it will become mandatory for all Belgian employers, in both the private and public sectors, to record daily working time in an objective, reliable and accessible manner. This decision is part of the budget agreement.
The aim of this measure is to ensure that rules on working hours and rest periods are correctly complied with, and that there is more attention for a healthy work-life balance. Employers are free to choose how they register working time, like with the TELETASK solution.
Key aspects of the mandatory registration
Legislative framework: The measure follows European case law (2019/2024), which states that employers must track working time to ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive.
Scope: It applies to all employees, including workers with flexible shifts.
Flexibility: The government does not impose a specific system. Time clocks, badges, apps, Excel sheets or digital platforms are allowed, as long as they are “reliable”. The TELETASK system supplies a csv file on a predefined regular basis. No other actions to take to be compliant.
Existing obligations: In situations such as flexible schedules and part-time work, registration has already been mandatory for some time.
Time registration with the TELETASK access control system
The TELETASK system complies with current GDPR regulations. Of course, the TELETASK system can do much more than time registration. Today, time registration alone is not sufficient in the context of sustainability and energy efficiency — and that is where TELETASK can also provide additional value. Certain energy-dependent systems (for example HVAC - heating, cooling and ventilation) in an office or business building often depend on the presence of people — sometimes even in specific rooms based on the presence or absence of specific individuals or members of a particular team.
Example: When there are no sales employees in the sales department, there is no need for HVAC systems to run at full capacity.
