TELETASK in a stylish second home on the Belgian coast
A welcoming apartment on the Belgian coast combines a high-quality interior with the comfort of TELETASK home automation for lighting, shutters and heating.
Recently, an apartment on the Belgian coast was fitted out as a second home. The project was developed by Unidevelop in collaboration with system integrator Koen De Cock. TELETASK was chosen to achieve integrated home automation. The system now mainly provides an easy-to-use control of the lighting, shutters and heating, while also allowing room for future extensions.
A second home with a sea view
The apartment is situated on a lively, atmospheric square on the Belgian coast. From the living area, the residents can look out over the beach and sea, while the city’s energy and the tranquillity of the polders are also close by.
The apartment was designed as a comfortable second home where the residents can feel at home straight away. The interior design combines soft colours, natural materials and bespoke elements. The result is a warm, peaceful setting in which the view of the North Sea plays an important role.
The apartment’s clear layout creates an easy flow between the entrance, living area and bedrooms. The apartment has three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. A guest room has been cleverly integrated behind a cupboard door in the hallway.
Home automation as part of the overall concept
A high-quality interior also calls for comfortable, user-friendly system control. The client therefore wanted to integrate a long-lasting and reliable home automation system into the apartment.
TELETASK was ultimately selected and recommended by the installer involved, Koen De Cock, who has worked successfully with the system for many years. The project was initially planned with another home automation solution, but following further research and consultation with the client, the TELETASK system was chosen as the most suitable solution. The builder considered not only the available technical features and options but also the overall cost of the electrical installation.
For the end user, home automation primarily means greater comfort in everyday use. The lighting can be dimmed, the shutters can be operated, and the heating is integrated into the system.
Collaboration on the lighting plan
An important part of the installation was the collaboration between the electrical installer and the interior architect. The integrator contributed to the lighting plan and the choices relating to the lighting.
This was important for the project, as the lighting helps define the atmosphere of the apartment. In the living area, recessed and surface-mounted lighting, together with the natural materials and soft furnishings, create a warm feel.
TELETASK also makes the lighting easy to control and dim, allowing users to adjust it to suit the occasion and the desired atmosphere.
Lighting, shutters and heating
The apartment’s various systems were brought together into one integrated whole. The installation mainly covers control of the lighting, shutters and heating.
The different systems are controlled centrally, so residents do not need a separate control for each function. The controls were chosen to complement the interior and include TELETASK control options.
The ability to add functions later is another important advantage. Provision was made, for example, for the potential integration of a music system.
Luxury push-buttons with TELETASK technology
Exclusive push-buttons were chosen to control the lighting. A small TELETASK interface behind each one provides the digital connection, along with the associated functions and flexibility. As a result, unforeseen changes or future modifications can be made by the installer without having to alter the cabling.
This also allows the technology to be integrated seamlessly into the interior without dominating the appearance of the rooms. The controls complement the apartment’s high-quality finish.
The installation also includes central control via a compact PENTUS touchscreen. Technically, it uses a third-generation DOMUS controller, and the electrical installation was built using, among other components, DALI drivers, relay interfaces and a shutter interface.
A flexible system for today and tomorrow
In practice, one of the features the system integrator particularly values is the modular design of the TELETASK system. It can be used in both smaller and larger installations and adapted as the client’s requirements change.
This was also demonstrated in this project. After the installation, the end client requested a few minor changes, including in view of a possible music system. The system’s flexibility made it easy to accommodate these additional requests.
For this second home, this capability is not only useful, but also important for preserving the apartment’s value over the long term. Residents’ needs can change over time. With the TELETASK system, the electrical installation does not need to be rebuilt from scratch, as is often the case with a conventional electrical installation.
Easy to use
Finding the simplest possible solution for residents and their guests is often the system integrator’s greatest challenge. Although there is a great deal of technology behind the scenes, the controls need to be intuitive and straightforward for the user.
Here, a very brief explanation was all the residents needed. This reflects the empathy, experience and considered approach of the interior architect and TELETASK system integrator. But requirements change. Settings and functions can always be adjusted later, once the residents have gained more experience of living in their new apartment.
The TELETASK ATMOS app is particularly useful for a second home. All residents can use it to control every function of the installation, both inside the property and remotely. For example, in winter they can set the heating to a higher temperature before arriving. The same TELETASK app can also be used to unlock the apartment. If they are unsure whether everything is in order after leaving, they can check from their smartphone and, if necessary, switch off the lights or adjust the heating.
The combination of simple controls and a flexible installation keeps the technology in the background, where it supports a pleasant stay.
An installation that adapts to the client’s needs
